PANI stands for Provision for Advisory on Necessary Irrigation. It is a collaborative effort of University of Washington, Geokno, Kritsnam Technologies and Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur. PANI is an agricultural and irrigation advisory service for farmers of India that uses a fusion of satellite and global numerical weather prediction data with hyperlocal sensor data on soils and crops to create meaningful advisories for farmers at the plot scale. In its current phase, PANI is being prototyped over the region of Kanpur with financial assistance from the University of Washington and Global Water Security & Sanitation Partnership of the World Bank. Additional and extensive support from Geokno, Kritsnam and IIT Kanpur are also being leveraged during PANI's prototyping phase.
